Information for Montgomery Kids Basketball 2016 Season
Montgomery Kids basketball is sponsored by Montgomery United Methodist Church and is associated with Upward Sports. The league is organized by school grade as follows (all teams are co-ed):
K5 (5 years of age by January 1 or kindergarten)
Although MKBB is associated with Upward Sports, we enforce local rules, which are published each year on this site before online registration begins.
Scores are kept for all games, regardless of level.
Upward substitution rules are enforced for all levels which provides equal playing time for all players.
Grade 5/6 standings are posted and there is a year-end tournament for this division only.
Certified TAPPS (Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools) referees officiate all games with the exception of K5.
All coaches and assistant coaches are volunteers.
Every player must complete a skills evaluation test before being drafted on a team. The Team drafts are done by computer and the skills test scores from player evaluations are the basis of the draft. This allows us to draft teams with fairly equal talent and provides for a more competitive league.
We do not honor car pool or friend requests. Each volunteer coach is allowed to request one player whose parent will be designated as the assistant coach.
Last year we had over 250 children in the MKBB program. Obviously it requires a number of volunteers to run a league of this size. We need volunteers for coaches, team moms and dads, game day coordinators, practice night coordinators, board members, and registration support. Please let us know if you are willing to volunteer!

All games are played on Saturday at the Montgomery United Methodist Church Faith Center and each team will play eight games (including the year end tournament).
There is one practice during the week for each team, which lasts one hour and is at the Faith Center at Montgomery United Methodist Church. All games are approximately one hour long, including a ten minute halftime.
On line and early registration (by mail) is October 1 – November 30
Late and in-person registration is December 3, 4 & 5.
Player evaluations are December 3.4, & 5 and take place at the Faith Center at Montgomery United Methodist Church.
Practices begin the week of January 4 and or on Tuesday or Thursday evenings from 5:00 – (9:00 PM. Players can request a specific practice night when they register.
Opening Day is January 4; final game is February 27.
End of year celebration is Sunday, February 28.
Registration fees cover the cost of a game jersey, tee shirt, and players kit. It also covers the cost of referees, basketballs, coaches training materials, and any other equipment necessary for games. It also includes the costs of the year-end celebration and a year-end award. It does not include trophies. Team trophies are paid for individually by those teams that decide to give trophies to their players. Shorts that match the game jerseys may be purchased for an additional $14. Players may also wear plain black shorts with their uniforms in lieu of “game shorts”. These may be purchased at Target, Wal-Mart or Academy.
Registration fees are as follows:
On-line and early registration is $110 with a $10 discount for each additional family member. On-line registration is available on this website starting October 1. For mail-in registration forms, please contact Doug Rogge at email@example.com.
Late registration (December 3,4,5) is $125 with no family discount.
You may pay by cash or credit card. Personal checks are not accepted.
Uniforms are ordered the week following player evaluations. Once uniforms are ordered we cannot refund your registration fees.
